Danny mc Quillan R.I.P
The members of the club are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Danny .A club stalwart if ever there was one.
Danny has perhaps been one of the longest standing members we have ever had, indeed his son RJ renewed his membership last Sunday ,on his behalf at the recent AGM. A successful team manager leading his team to victory in the intermediate championship in 1973. He was also a key player in the Junior championship team of 1963.
As proprietor of the Bay Hotel for many years he was very generous in allowing free access to the facilities for club use, and was a generous sponsor for many years. He was always happy to help out and offer advice as well as the use of his many items of machinery, such as the time when during one of the Marquee weeks ,Pearl was complaining of how cold it was sitting 'doing the door'......no problem to Danny,he landed down with a gas heater that resembled a jet engine which when turned up to full power would have heated the folk on the Mull of Kintyre let alone those in the Marquee.
He was a great supporter and was ever present at home matches parked up beside the scoreboard with Pearl where they could keep an eye on all that was going on. He was always proud to watch his children playing and managing for Cushendun but one of the highlights must surely have been watching Rory finally get his hands on a Championship medal in 2018.
To his wife,Pearl, and children,Debbie,Dominic, Seamus, Cahal,Peter ,Rory and the extended Mc Quillan family we offer our sincere condolences at this time.
As a mark of respect the weekly Quiz has been cancelled this week.
