U12's beat the big freeze

Tuesday, January 12, 2010

Two teams have been entered in the North Antrim U-12 indoor competition this year (no shortage of numbers or commitment from both players and mentors). Conor Mc Neil and Mark Scally took our first panel to Ballycastle where they acquitted themselves very well indeed overcoming the challenge of Glenravel and Glenshesk . These victories mean that this panel will compete in division 3 or 4 next Saturday. The second team were playing in Coleraine and after a very shaky start when Cloughmills inflicted a surprise defeat on them, they went on to remain unbeaten against all other teams at this venue including the much fancied Dungiven outfit, to whom we managed to hold on for a nail biting 2-2 draw (however one of our more vociferous mentors reckon that we could have won it if the referee had played the full seven minutes and not the six minutes fifty seconds that he did play!!) We finished a close runner up to Dungiven at this venue and will now probably be graded in Division 2.

The next round of this competition takes place next Saturday with times and venues still to be confirmed. We are very hopeful that both teams will make it to their divisional finals.

A training session has been arranged for Wednesday night in the hall to get both sides freshened up for Saturday. Time for training will be communicated through the school.
